G Master lenses feature AF motors such as XD Linear and DDSSM, which move the focus lens in a straight line rather than a rotary one, enabling faster, more accurate, and quieter focus movement, making them ideal for both photography and video.

This is Sony's own motor that has been completely developed for both still and video. It moves the lens module in a straight line, eliminating unnecessary gears and moving parts to achieve fast, quiet, and highly accurate AF for both still and video. It also has a stronger torque than conventional linear motors, allowing even large-diameter lenses to be driven quickly and accurately.
