A fast and accurate AF (Auto Focus) motor increases focus precision, resulting in sharper images. G Master lenses feature AF motors such as XD Linear and DDSSM, which move the focus lens in a straight line rather than a rotary one, enabling faster, more accurate, and quieter focus movement, making them ideal for both photography and video.
A floating focus mechanism provides improved close-up capabilities, while a floating focus system effectively controls aberration at all focusing distances. Subjects can be captured with remarkable resolution and soft, beautiful background bokeh - with fast, accurate autofocus.

This is Sony's own motor that has been completely developed for both still and video. It moves the lens module in a straight line, eliminating unnecessary gears and moving parts to achieve fast, quiet, and highly accurate AF for both still and video. It also has a stronger torque than conventional linear motors, allowing even large-diameter lenses to be driven quickly and accurately.
