Sony Introduces New Addition to Car AV Receiver Line
The XAV-1600 provides updated connectivity, while offering enhanced utility and powerful sound

(Singapore, 24 April 2024) – Sony today announced the newest additions to its line of car AV receivers, the XAV-1600. While maintaining its ergonomic design and great sound, the XAV-1600 features updated smartphone connectivity powered by WebLink® that allows customers to easily enjoy their favourite smartphone apps on the go safely.
Key Features of XAV-1600
- WebLink® Compatible: WebLink® is a lightweight app delivery platform designed especially for in-vehicle use. Download the WebLink Host app to Android™/ iOS supported devices and hook them up to the XAV-1600 with a USB cable for reliable and responsive infotainment anytime on the road[1].
- YouTube™ Playback on WebLink®: With WebLink®, customers can watch their favourite YouTube™ videos right on the XAV-1600 screen. Open the YouTube™ app from its home screen to see what’s trending, or browse by category, or even search for specific contents. For enhanced safety, YouTube will be disabled while on the move.[2]

- 75-inch (17.1 cm) Anti-glare Sleek Touchscreen: The anti-glare touchscreen and clean interface design ensure a stylish and efficient user experience.
- Quick Wake Up: With the Quick Wake Up feature, users are ready to go right after turning on the ignition[3].
- Bluetooth® Connection: Through Bluetooth® connection, hands-free calling and wireless audio streaming is available between the mobile device and the receiver with touchscreen phone book.
- 55Wx4 Max / 20Wx4 RMS DRA2 with EXTRA BASS™ Circuitry: Built-in 4-channel amplifier delivers magnificent 55 watts x 4 (max. at 4 ohms) / 20 watts x 4 (RMS at 4 ohms) output power realised with DRA2 power IC. The EXTRA BASS™ overcomes engine noise and reproduces clear punchy sound at any volume level. The two-mode boost steps allow you to get delicate and heavy boost settings, depending on your mood.
- Sound Optimisation: With speakers commonly installed in the doors or under the dash producing directional mid and high frequency sound, the audio may sound muddy or unclear. Dynamic Stage Organizer adjusts the audio signal, improving the stereo positioning allowing the music to sound like it’s coming from right in front of the listener. The inclusion of a 10-band equaliser further allows users to tailor the sound to their personal preference.
- FLAC Audio File Compatible: FLAC – Free Lossless Audio Codec, is an audio format which allows the decoding of audio signals without any loss in quality. Now you can play back FLAC files with up to 24-bit depth and sampling frequency at 48 kHz[4].
- 3-pre Out for Future Systems: For future expandability, the 3-pre out connectivity allows customers to build a full acoustic system including a subwoofer, a mono amplifier and 4-channel amplifier for even louder and powerful sound reproduction.
- Rear View Camera Ready with Adjustable Parking Guidelines: Safety is further enhanced with the support of a connected rear view camera (not supplied) that shows an image automatically when shifting the vehicle’s transmission lever to the reverse position or tapping the Rear Camera icon on the home screen.
- Simple Button Controls: With an ergonomically designed physical key terminal, it gives an instant access to basic operations such as source selections and sound adjustments while minimising distractions when driving.
- Easy installation, with a compact rear chassis: Despite its double-DIN display, the rear chassis is far smaller than conventional double-DIN units. Allowing a much easier installation with plenty of room for cables and other accessories in the space behind the display.
- Environment in Mind: Sony’s products are not only designed to be stylish but also with the environment in mind. For the individual packaging of the XAV-1600, up to 90% of the cushions are made of paper materials, and compared to the prior model, printed information has been carefully considered for simplicity and length to reduce printer ink usage by approximately 80%, reflecting Sony’s commitment to reducing environmental impact.
Availability
- XAV-1600 will be available at selected car audio dealers in Singapore from May 2024. For full product details, please visit https://www.sony.com.sg/car-audio/products/xav-1600
