(SINGAPORE, 17 MARCH 2026) – Sony Singapore reveals today Chung Cheong Wong as Singapore’s National Award winner for the Sony World Photography Awards 2026.

The National & Regional Awards programme is an initiative set up by Sony and Creo under its photography strand, the World Photography Organisation, to support local photographic communities around the world. Across this year’s competitions, over 430,000 images from over 200 countries and territories were submitted.

Selected from the Awards’ competitions, the National and Regional Award winners exemplify the inspiring work and unique perspectives of photographers working today. All winners receive Sony Digital Imaging equipment and are included in the Sony World Photography Awards exhibition.

Chung Cheong Wong was anonymously selected by judges for his photograph The Eye: Window to the Soul, entered into the Natural World & Wildlife category of the Open competition. Blakiston’s fish owl is a nocturnal bird of prey that relies on its keen hearing and sight for hunting. This carefully timed photograph captures one of the owl’s eyes, revealed through its flight feathers.

PHOTOGRAPHER’S BIOGRAPHY
I began film photography as a hobby in my late teens. Over time, my outdoor interests expanded to include birdwatching. As the world transitioned into the digital era, I picked up digital photography in the mid-2000s, relearned my skills, and never looked back.

Commenting on his win, Wong said: ‘This is my first time winning an award for my bird photography. It has truly inspired me to continue honing my skills and to use my work to reach a wider community, raising awareness about the importance of conservation.’

As Singapore’s National Award winner, Chung Cheong Wong receives Sony digital imaging equipment and will be included in the Sony World Photography Awards exhibition.

The overall winners in the Student, Youth, Open and Professional competitions of the Sony World Photography Awards 2026 will be announced on 16 April and will go on display as part of the exhibition at Somerset House, London (17 April – 4 May 2026).
