(SINGAPORE, 4 FEBRUARY 2025) – Sony Singapore reveals today Ng Guang Ze as Singapore’s National Award winner for the Sony World Photography Awards 2025.
The National & Regional Awards programme is an initiative set up by Sony and Creo under its photography strand the World Photography Organisation to support local photographic communities around the world, with 56 countries taking part this year. Across this year’s Awards over 419,000 images from over 200 countries and territories were submitted to the Sony World Photography Awards 2025.
National and Regional Award winners were selected from the Open competition, which champions the best single images taken in the past year.
Guang Ze was anonymously selected by judges for his photograph Curved Stream, entered into the Landscape category of the Open competition. During a solo hike in Wenhai, China, the photographer came across a serene, narrow stream meandering through dark grasslands, flowing towards a vast, still lake in the distance. The image was edited with muted tones and high contrast to evoke the look of a pencil sketch, capturing the solitude and tranquillity of the journey.
Based in Singapore, Guang Ze is a landscape photographer whose passion began in 2017 when he inherited a camera from his father. This sparked his love for capturing the world’s beauty. Through his travels, he documents diverse landscapes, preserving fleeting moments of light and atmosphere. His work blends technical skill with artistic expression, creating compelling visual stories that reflect his ongoing journey to explore and share the breathtaking sights he encounters.
Commenting on his win, Ng said: ‘Winning this award is a profound honour, as it celebrates the moments I’ve captured while exploring the beauty of our world. Through my lens, I strive to share the spirit of discovery and the silent stories nature whispers in every landscape.’
As Singapore’s National Award winner, Guang Ze receives Sony digital imaging equipment and will be included in the Sony World Photography Awards exhibition and book.
The overall winners in the Student, Youth, Open and Professional competitions of the Sony World Photography Awards 2025 will be announced on 16 April and will go on display as part of the exhibition at Somerset House, London (17 April – 5 May 2025).
