How to replace the earpads (WH-1000XM6)

Before you start

Before replacing the earpads, check the following:

• Headphones are turned off
• USB cable is not connected
• You are not in a location with iron sand or other metal dust
  Note: The magnet inside the headset may attract iron sand or other metal objects, causing it to malfunction.

Remove the earpads

Hint: You can watch a video on how to remove the earpads in the Reference video section of this article.

1. Pull the earpad straight out from the housing.
   Remove the earpad on the other side in the same way.
   

Attach the earpads

Note: Check the L (Left) and R (Right) marks on the earpad, and attach each earpad to the correct side—left to left, right to right.

1. Check the position of the claws that secure the earpads.
   Check the location of the claws on both the housing and the earpads, then position the earpads in the direction they will be installed.
   
   
   
2. Align the claws of the earpad to the ones in the housing.
   By pressing the cushion of the earpad, firmly insert the five claws until you hear a clicking sound.
   

   Note: Be careful not to touch the mesh located in the center of the earpad.

3. Install the earpad on the other side in the same way.
