If the Sony | BRAVIA Connect app repeatedly displays “Reconnect the HDMI cable” and the initial setup cannot be completed, the HDMI connection between the TV and the soundbar or home theater system may not be detected correctly.
Check the following:
- Make sure the HDMI cable is securely connected to both the TV and the home theater system or soundbar. Disconnect the HDMI cable, then firmly reconnect it to both devices.
- Make sure the HDMI cable is connected to the correct HDMI terminals on both devices. Use the terminals labeled “eARC/ARC” where available.
- For more details about the connection, refer to this article: Cannot hear the TV sound from the Soundbar or Home Theater System. You can also refer to the Help Guide for your soundbar or home theater system.
- Use the HDMI cable supplied with the soundbar or home theater system. If you do not have the supplied cable, try another HDMI cable to check whether the connection is detected.
- For details on the appropriate HDMI cable, refer to this article: What type of HDMI cable should I use to connect my soundbar or home theater system to the TV?
- If other audio devices or an HDMI selector is connected to the HDMI terminals on the TV, soundbar, or home theater system, disconnect them and retry the setup.
Hint: Use a direct HDMI connection between the TV and the soundbar or home theater system. HDMI selectors are not supported and are not guaranteed to work.
