When I look through the viewfinder, the viewfinder display does not light up.

Depending on the position and angle of the rear monitor, the eye sensor may become disabled in order to prevent the camera from accidentally switching to the viewfinder display.

When the rear monitor is in the positions described below, the camera cannot switch to the viewfinder display via activation of the eye sensor. To use the viewfinder display, change the position of the monitor.

When the menu includes Auto: 1 and Auto: 2 options, they work as follows:

    Auto: 1
The eye sensor may be disabled depending on the monitor’s position or angle.
    Auto: 2
The display automatically switches to the viewfinder when you look through it, regardless of the monitor's position or angle.

Note: Supported functions vary depending on your camera.

Positions that disable the eye sensor

    • Low-angle shot
