RAID stands for Redundant Arrays of Inexpensive Disks
It is a technology to combine several inexpensive drives to equal or exceed the performance of a larger and more expensive disk drive. There are many different types of RAID, but VGN-AR Series adopts RAID0 as the default and it is changeable to RAID1.
RAID 0 is called “Striping.” It speeds up the disk access by dividing the data and delivering them in a parallel form into two different hard disks.
RAID 1 is called “Mirroring.” The same data is written on two different hard disks, which prevents data loss even if one hard disk fails.
RAID accelerates speed of data reading and writing. (eg: HDV editing becomes easier and PC boot up becomes faster.)
