The initial setup and checking basic operations of the camera are described below.
Initial setup
By connecting the camera to the smartphone application Creators' App, you can easily perform the initial setup of the camera.
It is recommended to install the Creators' App first, as using it can allow you to do a variety of things such as transferring images to your smartphone or operating the camera remotely with your smartphone.

Touch function icons
The touch function icons are lined up on both sides of the shooting screen. Frequently used items, such as switch shooting modes or Creative Look, are lined up and the settings can be easily changed by touch.
When shooting while holding the camera vertically, the screen display automatically switches to vertical to match the camera’s orientation.

Focusing using touch operations
You can focus easily using touch operations. The essential points on focusing on the eyes of humans or animals are described below.
- Selecting the focus position by touch (Shooting movies)
- Focusing on human eyes (Shooting movies)
- Focusing on the eyes of an animal or a bird (Shooting movies)
Cleaning the monitor
If the monitor becomes dirty with fingerprints or dust, gently remove the dust from the surface, and then clean the monitor using a soft cloth, etc. Be careful not to wipe the monitor too roughly with tissue paper or a similar material, as this may scratch it.
Consider using an optional protective glass sheet that supports touch operations.

Zoom
Zoom using the W/T (zoom) lever on the camera. You can also zoom using the (Zoom) touch function icon.
If you set Zoom Range to Clear Image Zoom or Digital Zoom, you can even zoom with a prime lens.

Custom button
A is the custom button (C1). Background Defocus is assigned to the custom button (C1) by default.

B is the (Product Showcase Set) button. It also works as the
(Delete) button during playback.

The optional shooting grip GP-VPT2BT C1 button is linked to the camera C1 button, so assigned functions can be operated from the shooting grip.
Functions assigned to the buttons, control wheel, and control dial can be changed to different functions.

Function menu
The function menu is displayed when you press the Fn (Function) button.
The function menu is a collection of 12 frequently used functions. You can register 12 functions to the function menus for still image shooting and movie shooting, respectively.
