ZV-1M2: Background defocus switching and automatic focus switching for product reviews
Switching the level of defocus in the background is as easy as pressing the Background Defocus button, and for product reviews, you can activate automatic focus switching between the speaker and an object simply by pressing the Product Showcase Set button.
Switching the background defocus
Press the (Background Defocus) button on the top of the camera once to enter the Background Defocus mode and defocus the background. Afterwards, the level of defocus in the background switches between "Defocus" and "Clear" each time you press the button.

Checking/changing C (Custom) button functions
By default, the C1 button (Custom button 1) is assigned to Background Defocus, but you can assign a different function.
To check which function is currently assigned, select MENU → (Setup) → Operation Customize and then
Custom Key Setting,
Custom Key Setting, or
Custom Key Setting.
To change the function of custom button, press the center of the control wheel while that button is selected. Select a function after the functions available for that button are displayed.
You can use the C1 button on a GP-VPT2BT shooting grip (sold separately) as you would use the C1 button on the camera, so your assigned function can also be controlled from the grip.
For shooting grip details, see the following page.
Using an optional shooting grip
The Background Defocus mode locks the aperture value and displays an icon ( for Defocus or
for Clear) instead of an aperture value.
(Defocus): Locks the aperture value at the maximum (wide-open) value
(Clear): Locks the aperture value at F5.6
The camera returns to the normal shooting mode and the aperture returns to the former value when you press the Still/Movie/S&Q button. For details, see the following page.
