It’s Time To Play With The Launch of Sony’s Alpha Creators 5.0 Contest
This year’s contest with both photography and videography categories, will encourage creators to gear up and capture the world as their playground
(SINGAPORE, 6 December 2022) – Sony’s highly anticipated annual Alpha Creators contest is back for its fifth edition this year, with the theme, “Sony Time To Play”. Boasting both a photo and video contest, creators are being invited to press play to make dreams their next reality.
Sony has always been committed to delivering Kando and Anshin to people and societies across the world through the pursuit of technology and new challenges. The contest thus aims to bring together both amateur and seasoned creatives to come out and play to challenge boundaries and push creative limits fearlessly.
“The Sony Alpha Creators contest continues to provide a platform for creative communities to find and showcase their voices. Despite ever-changing and uncertain times, we want to continue creating new and exciting experiences that encourage both professional and aspiring content creators to take risks, experiment and push creative limits through the mediums of photography and videography,” said Nathaniel Neo, Head, Digital Imaging Marketing, Sony Electronics (Singapore).
The contest will be judged by four key opinion leaders across both the photography and videography industries. Judges for the Photography contest include professional photographers, Alan Ng and Rachel Tan; and the judges for the Videography contest are Fashion and Lifestyle videographer, JunDa Lee and Travel videographer, Qi Hao.
How to Participate
From 6 December 2022 to 10 January 2023, 11:59pm SGT, participants must submit their entry – comprising of a single photo or a series of up to ten (10) images pertaining to the theme; or a video no longer than 90 seconds, with a caption explaining how they captured content with the world as their playground. The entry must be submitted on Instagram, using the dedicated hashtag #SonyTimeToPlay and tagging @SonySingapore.
Participants must also follow @SonySingapore and make their Instagram accounts public in order to qualify.
Four semi-finalists – two each from the photography and videography categories – will be selected to enter Phase 2 of the contest. Photography semi-finalists will go head-to-head to produce a one-of-a-kind photo series, whilst the videography semi-finalists will be challenged to create one final outstanding video. The grand prize winners for each category will be crowned on 24 February 2023, and 10 honourable mention submissions will be featured on its digital gallery the same day.
