Follow this procedure to troubleshoot when there is no sound or low volume coming from the TV speakers.
IMPORTANT: If model-specific information is required to complete any of the steps in this solution, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the product.
NOTE: Because each of these steps represents a possible solution to this issue, check the TV status after completing each step.
- Increase the volume of the TV.
- If using a set-top box with a volume control, increase the volume of the set-top box.
NOTE: If the set-top box is connected using an Audio/Video (A/V) connection, make sure the A/V cables are connected securely to the appropriate video input on the TV.
- Make sure the TV audio has not been muted.
- Make sure no headphones are connected to the TV.
- If analog broadcasts are available, perform analog broadcast tuning and check if there is noise.
- If there is noise: Sound is coming out from the TV. Check for other causes such as apps with no sound or the playback content.
- If there is no noise: Sound may not be coming out due to a cause in the TV. Proceed to Step 6.
- Verify that the MTS settings of the TV are set to MAIN or STEREO.
NOTE: If the source device is not set to stereo or is not capable of transmitting a stereo signal, sound may only come out of one speaker on the TV, and the volume will sound low. In this case, adjust or replace the source device.
- If the TV has a Simulated effect in the audio menu, turn it off.
- If the TV has a Volume Offset setting in the audio menu, set it to a higher or the maximum value.
- Ensure the TV speakers are not set as the center speaker.
NOTE: Some TVs allow the TV speakers to act as the center channel speaker when using a multi-channel receiver.
- Verify the speakers are set to ON in the TV menu.
IMPORTANT: If the TV has audio output jacks and they are connected to a stereo system, then the speakers on the TV may be turned off. Some TVs require the internal speakers or the center speaker setting to be off before audio can be sent out to a stereo receiver via the audio out jacks.
- If the TV has a Headphone/Audio-Out settings in the Sound menu, set it to Audio-Out.
- Make sure all A/V cable connections are properly connected to the TV.
- Test the TV using another source like a VCR, DVD player or Blu-ray Disc player.
- Perform a power reset on the TV.
NOTE: For Android TVs, follow these steps to perform a power reset .
- If using a set-top box, try resetting it.

- If the issue is not resolved after performing a power reset, reset the TV to the original factory settings . (For LCD TVs)
- For Android TVs, follow these steps to perform a Factory Data Reset .
The troubleshooting steps listed above should resolve your issue. If you have completed all of the steps and the issue is not resolved, service may be required.
