Sony is always concern about quality and customer satisfaction and therefore is offering a firmware update for MHS-TS20K/TS20.

Applicable firmware versions
MHS-TS20K/TS20 with the firmware Ver 1.04 or lower.

How to determine the firmware version
If the firmware version is already Ver.1.05 or higher, it is not necessary to update the firmware.

  1. Press the Movie button and then press and hold the ON/OFF(Power) button for about 3 sec.

  2. Camera displays the firmware version between Self-Timer button and Playback button for about 4 sec.

    The location of the version displayed is different depending on the camera direction.

Details

Step 1: Download the firmware

  1. Store the downloaded file FIRMWARE.BIN on the desktop(recommended) of your computer.

Step 2: Connect the camera to the computer

For Windows Operating System

  1. Connect the camera to the computer with the USB connection support cable (supplied).
    "USB Mode/Mass Storage" will be displayed on the LCD screen.

  2. The computer will detect two drives below.
    Note: Alphabets for drives depend on the computer environment.
    "BLOGGIE(D:)"
    "Bloggie Software(E:)" or "BLOGGIE_SW(E:)"

  3. If LUN Settings is set to "Single", the computer will detect just one drive of BLOGGIE(D:).

For Mac Operating System

  1. Connect the camera to the computer with the USB connection support cable (supplied)
    "USB Mode/Mass Storage" will be displayed on the LCD screen.


  2. The computer will detect two drives below. 
    "BLOGGIE"
    "BLOGGIE_SW"

  3. If LUN Settings set to "Single", the computer will detect just one drive of BLOGGIE.

Step 3: Copy the firmware to the camera internal memory

For Windows Operating System

  1. The drive which has smaller alphabet such as "BLOGGIE(D:)" (refer to step 2) is the internal memory of the camera.
    Alphabets of drive (like[D:]) depend on the computer environment.
    If LUN Settings is set to "Single", the detected drive is the internal memory.
  2. Double-click the icon of the drive of Bloggie(D:) to open.
  3. Copy the downloaded file FIRMWARE.BIN to that drive.
  4. Disconnect the camera with the computer by the procedure below.
  5. Disconnect the USB connection support cable from the camera.

For Mac Operating System

  1. The drive "BLOGGIE" (refer to step 2) is the internal memory of the camera.
    If LUN Settings is set to "Single", the detected drives is the internal memory.
  2. Double-click the icon of the drive of "BLOGGIE" to open.
  3. Copy the downloaded file FIRMWARE.BIN to that drive.
  4. Disconnect the camera with the computer by the procedure below
    Drag and drop the icon of the drive to the "Trash" icon before disconnecting.
  5. Disconnect the USB connection support cable from camera.

Step 4. Start the firmware update

  1. Confirm that thebattery icon located at the upper-right corner of the LCD screen is full.
  2. Press the ON/OFF button to power off.
  3. Press the ON/OFF button again to power on.
  4. The firmware update will start automatically.
    You can see animation of "..." in the message of "Updating..." on the LCD screen.


  5. After 10 seconds, the camera will reboot automatically.
    Note
    Do not turn off the camera while updating the firmware or the camera may be damaged.

Step 5. Check firmware version
The firmware update is completed succesfully if 1.05 is displayed.

  1. Press the Movie button and then press and hold the ON/OFF(Power) button for about 3 sec.

  2. Camera displays the firmware version 1.05 between Self-Timer button and Playback button for about 4 sec.

    The location of the version displayed is different depending on the camera direction.

  • If the firmware updating procedure was not completed successfully or the camera cannot turn on, please consult your local authorized Sony service facility.
