Good APSC, But Go Full-Frame with a Bit More

Body + 18-135mm Zoom Lens 20 August 2020 by SethC (Malaysia) Verified Purchaser Verified

Good if you have a lot of money. Otherwise, go Full-Frame A7III with that minor price difference. As a beginner to video production, I purchased it thinking that APSC is the same as full frame. However, that's a large misconception. On APSC, you can perhaps go 1600 ISO before video noise makes your footage undesirable to you. On a full-frame camera like A7III, perhaps 3200 ISO. On the latest A7SIII, even up to 16,000. Imagine that. 16,000 ISO. With that knowledge in mind, if you know you won't ever want to upgrade to full frame for that low-light video capability - then the A6600 is a good buy. APSC lenses like Sigma are really affordable and amazing. However. If you know you'd have the slightest voice inside you that low light video shooting is something that'll pull at your heart strings, invest in a full frame camera. The full frame lenses you start investing in will get you really far. Look at the A7SIII. That's 10-bit 4:2:2 4K 120FPS. That's a camera that allows you to go 16,000 ISO with good footage. If your budget doesn't allow you to get the A7SIII anytime soon, then if you're looking at the A6600 - with a bit of increase in budget, that'll get you the A7III which is a legendary workhorse for a consumer-friendly mirrorless camera.

"This a fabulous and versatile camera from Sony"/

Body Only 17 July 2020 by emm73 (Singapore) Verified Purchaser Verified

I am tru;y happy that I bought this camera after trying it out at M S Color/ It can be used with all kinds of lenses, full-frame or APS-C including manual focusing lenses. The EVF is good and lots of features and functions to please the most demanding photographer. It's a superb APS=C camera.

great bokeh but focusing not good as a webcam

Body Only 08 July 2020 by Eric Sim (Singapore) Verified Purchaser Verified

I bought the A6600 for live streaming but the focusing is not intelligent enough. I did a live streaming to 1000 people via Zoom webinar on 2 July. When I showed an item, I need to ensure my eyes are blocked from the camera before the camera can focus on the product.

Solid quality

Body Only 19 January 2020 by ywkeong (Malaysia) Verified Purchaser Verified

I upgraded from A6000 to A6600. Pros: Good low light performance. User friendly user interface. Longer battery life. Fast auto focus. The list goes on... Cons: No built-in flash. A6000 can install apps for shooting specific scenes but it's removed from A6600.

Great camera but I wish to have something more

Body Only 18 January 2020 by sun007 (Malaysia) Verified Purchaser Verified

The best APS-C camera amaong all brands with the latest compac lens 16-55 f/2.8. It is very small size, has best battery, faster eye auto focus that makes it a great camera. Best travel camera for both photography and videography. I used this camera to create my youtube videos as well. What I wish, it should have a dual and faster memory cards. Because when I take long shutter speed photo, it takes time to clear the buffer and write in memory card. But overall, I am very happy to use this as my primary camera for traveling, photography and videography.

Almost perfect!

Body Only 08 January 2020 by LCS1990 (Singapore) Verified Purchaser Verified

I owned A6400 before, it was great but with certain limitation, and A6600 is the camera that fills in every hole of A6400. An almost perfect camera from video standpoint! Good battery life, good grip, great color profile(HLGs), flippy screen, inbody stabilization, bright screen, superb autofocus, 4K and Slow mo option! Brought it for a project and this camera nailed it! The only complain i would have for it, is the 100M option for video recording. Really hope for a higher bit rate, maybe 200M if not 10 bit.
