VAIO X Series is truly and entirely thin, from end to end, so it can be placed in any location and look its best.
Developing VAIO X Series also meant developing new materials to be used in it. One of these is a hybrid carbon material created by sandwiching a film layer with two carbon layers, enabling a reduction in weight while maintaining strength. The lightweight aluminium plate in the palm rest is only 0.6 mm thick, contributing to both the durability and thinness of VAIO X Series.

You can use VAIO X Series for 16 hours* straight with the optional X Battery. This 8-cell battery is wedge shaped to allow cooling space between the cells and the PC. And when attached, it tilts VAIO X Series at an angle to enable comfortable typing even with the additional thickness of the battery. You can work on short trips relying solely on battery power, and leave the AC charger on your desk.

From the outside, it simply looks like an eye-appealing groove around the edge of the unit. But actually this groove is the Rigid Arc design that provides increased resistance to outside pressure by virtue of its arced shape, created by bending the aluminium material at two points.
