An advanced D-Range Optimiser helps ensure beautifully balanced exposure in backlit situation

The D-Range Optimiser helps you take advantage of the Exmor™ CMOS sensor’s wide dynamic range, and obtain richer shadow and highlight detail in backlit situations. In Standard mode, it assures more natural exposure balance by optimising brightness and contrast for the image overall. In Advanced mode, it analyses each area of the composition separately and offers 5 optimisation levels for finer control, as well as a new D-Range Optimiser bracketing function that records the image at three different optimisation levels for easy best-shot selection.

Now, with the α DSLR, this same function is performed in-camera thanks to the D-Range Optimiser. And it’s easy to use, too. Just set the Function Dial to [D-R] and press the [fn] button, and the BIONZ™ Engine will ensure the highest quality during image processing. Great for direct printing, this function is especially effective when extreme differences between light and dark areas in the subject and background will result in an improper exposure with either too much or too little contrast.
