You may not have heard of the D-Range Optimiser. Even though it’s not a familiar term, the function it provides will benefit anyone who shoots pictures using a film camera. When film is brought to a developer for processing, technicians adjust the photo lab printer to control the overall image density – balancing the exposure between highlight and shadow areas – to produce perfect images.
Now, with the DSLR, this same function is performed in-camera thanks to the D-Range Optimiser. And it’s easy to use, too. Just set the Function Dial to [D-R] and press the [fn] button, and the BIONZ™ Engine will ensure the highest quality during image processing. Great for direct printing, this function is especially effective when extreme differences between light and dark areas in the subject and background will result in an improper exposure with either too much or too little contrast. |

As with all DSLR cameras, great photos can also be achieved using full manual settings. However, the D-Range Optimiser is another option for those who want to take amazing images quickly and easily. High-quality photos for everyone, with advanced technology that’s sure to impress. That’s the attitude.
• D-Range Optimiser Advanced mode processing time approx. 0.5 sec.
