For an amateur photographer myself, I’m very often attracted my colourful things, and vegetables happen to be one of them.
They are so colourful, full of textures, natural and definitely yummy looking (even if you are a carnivore by nature)!
Most of all, the freshness of these vegetables just make me feel FRESH. |
| |
|
| |
| I don’t have a clue what these veggies are, but they certainly are beautiful. They remind me of the many raintrees along the roads of Singapore. |
| |
|
| |
| The colours of the tapioca, green peppers and lemons somehow looks like the traffic lights in the wrong sequence. |

Small bittergourds are known to be really bitter. Haven’t tried it before, think I’d prefer the bigger ones. |

| I’m pleasantly surprised that many old architecture are still around in Little India when I went there to take photos. They really give the place so much more character, life and history. I hope they will never go away. |

| An old Chinese shophouse painted with colours resembling the colourful culture of the Indians. That’s what Singapore is all about, a fusion of multicultures. |
| |
|
|
| The contrast between the modern HDB flats in the background against the brightly coloured yellow shophouses. |
Childhood memories are provoked upon seeing this house. It resembles the old shophouse my grandma used to live. |
|
| |
|
| |
| I love the tattered roof, standing strong against the rain and shine all these years. Nothing can replace the history behind it and its uniqueness. |
| |
|
| |
| A business still runs within this amazing house which is probably older than 60 years. Sometimes I wonder what is the difference between a person who works in an air-conditioned office and a place like this. |

| When you are feeling bored and frustrated and you are procrastinating to do the things you wanna do, it’s a sign to “release” yourself. I release myself by doing this: |

Photography!
Photography is a newfound hobby after being the ambassador for Sony Alpha DSLR Series. Generous Sony sponsored me two new lenses recently for more great photos. YEAY! One is a 50mm F1.4 and the other is DT18-200mm F3.5-6.3. It’s beyond words to describe the fun I’m having, thus, the best way is to share the photos I’d taken with all of you! |

| You can see beautiful decorations put up for Deepavali (Festival of Lights) everywhere in Little India. It’s absolutely gorgeous. I always feel the Indians have a great sense of colours, especially towards mix-matching bold colours without a tinge of awkwardness. Fabulous! |
| |
|
| |
| Most of my memories before 8 year old were spent in Little India because I would visit my maternal grandmother who used to live there. I remember playing with my cousins in lanes like the pictures above. To see the existence of these places evoke happy memories in me again. |

Photography is really interesting, especially in taking people. It’s really funny that most of my photography enthusiasts friends are quite worried about taking photos of people, for they are afraid of being beaten up! Haha! I guess as a girl, I’m probably safer in that sense… hoho Anyway, among the photos above, I enjoy the one on the right hand side. Initially I just wanted to take a picture of the happenings in the market, the guy in front of me, upon seeing me taking photos, suddenly strike a pose for me! What a thrill! Hehe
More photos coming up!
Cheers! |

And so the Chinese saying goes, "Good things happen in pairs". I think this can be applied to the double visits I made to the Istana during these 3 days. Thanks to an invitation from President Nathan himself, my parents had the opportunity to visit the Istana for the first time in their lives to attend the National Day Reception with me.
I thank President Nathan for his warmth and generosity in extending the invitation to my parents. |

The evening started with both Hady and I singing live, acoustic versions of "Shine for Singapore" and "Happy Birthday" in tribute to Singapore.
We shook hands with all the dignitaries, and headed for a casual go-around-smile-chat-eat buffet session.
Professor Tommy Koh also came up to us immediately after our performance and told us how much he treasures local talents. His generous gesture and words – especially from someone of his status – made me feel truly special and appreciated. |

Perhaps, due to the fact that it was an outdoor event and the general crowd consisted of MPs chatting with various grassroots leaders and members of the grassroots committee, the whole ambience was relaxed and enjoyable.
The event ended with everyone singing the national anthem, "Majulah Singapura" and it was time to say goodbye. |

I must say it was a surreal experience, seeing different people eating or drinking with their mouths full while chatting to the MPs whom we see so often on TV ....
The point is, it’s more important to know that our down-to-earth MPs are really approachable and friendly, which can facilitate better communication that will probably lead to better resolved problems and challenges.
Let's all strive towards a better Singapore in the years to come! |

Everyone has been congratulating me on performing the NDP theme song recently. It made me feel like I had done really good things in my previous life and this is what I get in return of good karma. Haha...
I know it's a dramatic comparison, but whatever it is, I had said this before and I'll say it again: It's a great honour for a singer like me to sing for her country.
NDP has always been the biggest celebrated annual event in Singapore for the past 43 years and is definitely one of the most unforgettable performances I'll ever do in the span of my singing career.
Despite the drizzle before the finale, the passion of the audience did not fizzle out. Their warmth and support was felt instantly the moment Hady and myself I came on.
The feeling is phenomenal, and I enjoyed myself every minute of it. My heart was filled with excitement and honour. I could not have felt prouder.
