A piece of art; but has a big room of improvement

164 cm (65") 13 January 2018 by UncleSum

The product is like a piece of art. I have studied all brand of OLED TV before I make up my mind - Sony-A1 is my choice. Its picture quality and sound quality is brilliant. I like most is each HDMI connection could set its own color setting independently. I am looking forward the firmware upgrade of supporting Dolby Vision in February 2018. The sound quality is nearly like a mini HiFi system. Remeber to set the Sound Equalizer to your listening taste though. You do not need to invest a soundbar for Sony-A1. It sound much better than most of them. I wonder would Sony upgrade it to support Dolby Atom later too. I am not enjoy the user-interface though. User experience is just not good. It is not user friendly to operate. Think about my queen at home. The remote control is a disappointment. I am wonder why Sony not make the remote control more prestige (in term of materials and design) for a TV with this price-tag.

Sony sets the industry standard for OLED TV

139 cm (55") 11 January 2018 by MT1973

With the A1 4K, you will never watch tv the same way again. Sony just blew the doors off of every television experience with the A1. Hook it up with Apple TV 4K or Netflix for ultra 4K or HD content and be prepared to be blown away. Even normal content never look so good.

Amazing TV

139 cm (55") 04 January 2018 by AdmiralN

I purchased my A1 about 3 weeks ago and I must say I am very impressed so far. My list of pro's and cons: - Pro's: - Picture - Stunning picture quality. Streaming 4k content on Netflix is outstanding, especially dark scenes with perfect blacks. Upscaling to 4k is also very impressive. - Sound - is very good. I had to get rid of my sony sound base as the TV wouldn't fit on top. However, the sound production is very good and as yet I don't plan to purchase another sound bar. - Gaming - I had concerns that the input lag was higher than my Sony LCD TV. However, I haven't noticed a difference and the picture quality in 4k and HDR from my PS4 Pro is amazing. - Design - The TV's design is head and shoulders above all other TV's at the moment. I looks like a piece of art because of it's sleek design. I love the way the cables are all hidden at the back to complete the minimalist look. Con's: - 3 weeks after purchase I now live with buyers regret eating away at me that I didn't go with the 65 inch instead of the 55. Don't make my mistake if you have the space, always go big!

Gorgeous image quality with quality sound

164 cm (65") 24 September 2017 by 7K3ELA

I have been using A1 HDR OLED TV for 3 weeks. Some people concern about brightness of OLED, but I do not find any problem although the TV is nearby window. I have adjusted brightness to 50% as 100% is rather too bright. Image quality is wonderful. In Singapore we do not really have many 4K HDR contents yet therefore I may not be fully utilising the ability of the TV, but HD contents can be displayed pretty good in quality too. I was wondering if acoustic surface audio is really good or not. I would say it is not perfect, but really work very well. It sounds clear and direct. Overall I love the TV.

An Excellent TV - Expensive like a fine wine

164 cm (65") 21 September 2017 by CanadianScud

This is an excellent television for the true audiophile. It is too expensive to buy this to just watch everyday TV, so need to be paired with proper installation, lighting and source (high definition and 4K) content. The built in speaker concept is nice but, at this level, you want a proper external home audio system. If that is too much fuss, then you are better off to buy a cheaper more streamlined OLED TV.
